At the dawn of the millenium, while Master P and his No Limit records were losing steam, another team emerged out of the Nola, Cash Money Records.
Compared to No Limit, it was a small crew. The label that started in the early 90s decided to revamp its roster in the mid 90's, and though, it was quite concise, it appeared fresh and full of talent with a team of young beasts composed by B.G, Juvenile, Lil Wayne and Turk that were put together to form the Hot Boys with producer Mannie Fresh behind them.
Mannie was himself in a group, with label co-owner/founder Baby, that called themselves the Big Tymers. When the Hot Boys and Big Tymers were all together, they formed the Cash Money Millionaires, which basically was everyone on the label.

This small formation was more than enough to put out legion of songs and albums during a somewhat short era.
The Hot Boys only last about 7 years, from around 1997 to 2003, and most of the guys, except Wayne, left Cash Money after that. They were really on their grind, though, and wether it was early on other emerging indie labels throughout the south, or later on with bigger artists, on soundtracks, or else, they kept working and brought us with a lot of us gems.
So let’s get back to the prime days of the CM Millionaires, from their indie grind to the early Universal days with hour long compilation dedicated to this legendary NOLA crew and label.
