Don't really know how to introduce this new comp, because it's literally just some Cali shit...
There are a lot of things you might hear and go « Oh, that’s that Cali sound », so much actually, that it’s hard to describe what’s California Hip-Hop as one just thing, one feeling, one sound.
The state of California is so big, so diverse and its hip-hop scene has always reflected that...
It is most definitely gangsta with all the legendary gangsta rappers we all know, and even in the underground with the likes of C-Bo, Mac Dre (RIP), JT the Bigga Figga and so many more from L.A to the Bay and even further north or south.
Cali is the land of gangsta rap with tons of g-rappers who've been hustling and dominating the indie market for decades. Sure known for that Gangsta and funk sound, it is more way more than, though.
This vast land have also birthed all sort of rap artists that stray away from that G vibe. Crews such as Hyeroglyphics or Jurassic 5, amongst a lot of others, might not be about drive-bys and poppin' guns but they sure have marked Cali rap history as well.
