Gone Not Forgotten MC Breed

Gone Not Forgotten (GNF) is a new series starting over here at RapGameStudent, which  I first wanted to start with a general compilation going over different regretted figures of the rap world.
Then, as I was doing Michigan Part 2, I've noticed there is some fallen soldiers we tend to forget about, Flint, Michigan, MC Breed is one them.
There is clearly no reason for it, though, because Breed was really an important indie pioneer for the midwest in the rap game.

We forget that the man with more than a dozen albums under his belt, most charting in the billboard while being independent releases, was also the first midwest rapper to have commercial and nationwide success, with Ain't No Frontin in Yo' Future in 1991 when he was still the D.F.C guys.. and remember he was never signed to a major!
Yep, MC Breed was a pioneer and should be remembered for his rap skills as much as for his hustle, and his contribution to rap music.
He is truly legendary, and if you slept on him while he was with us, it’s sad, but never too late to catch up on a good thing!

He left behind an extensive catalog with tons of good music to get into. If i had to pick a few favorites, though, it'd be his 1992 opus 20 Below, its 1994 follow-up Funkafied, and 1997's Flatline, to keep it short.
These are my three favorites from his discography,  but with so many albums and side projects, he really left us with a lot of gems and good pieces that's worth listening to even if some are now twenty years old tracks and albums.

So to give you a little taste of it, or simply to get you back into it, here is a tribute compilation revolving around his 90's days.
I chose to keep 90's because he really got too much stuff that I like to sum it up in just one comp. Having to keep it short, I decided to focus on his first decade in the game with cuts going from the '91 Mc Breed & DFC LP to 99’s It’s All Good, as i really consider the 90’s his best years and those albums having enough solid material for me not to have to really go beyond.
Except on few occasions that is... As I've also added a few featurings  i enjoy like another 2pac collab of his, on Too $hort’s We Do This, and not only for 'Pac, though.  It was more to show that Breed seemed close to $hort and influenced by the west sound that was really present in his own music for sometimes in his career. And another good featuring that's not 90's but still included here is Proof's Ali, just because both guys on this one are important and really missed Michigan rappers.

MC Breed would have been 43 years old today (june 12th)....

R.I.P Eric "MC" Breed (June, 12, 1971 - November, 22, 2008)
