I've already done a lot about Texas and Rap-A-Lot, and after closing out our series on Rap-A-Lot first decade a few days back, it was the right time to do a little something about the imprint most legendary act, Geto Boys.
I didn’t want to include them in none of my TX or RAL compilations, because, even if they come from that, just as Scarface did on a solo level, these pioneers outgrew their state and label. They’re simply one of the main reasons the south can be so big today. They didn't open, they destroyed doors and walls for Texas, gangsta rap, and the south as a whole.

I could re-do the whole history but with this group, it'd take more than a blog post to go through it all.
From the switches in the line-up, Bushwick Bill's eye story, being declared dead to Willie D's antics and so many other crazy stories, they lived it all and through it all, making history on their way to rap greatness.
Pioneers of gangsta and southern rap, Geto Boys is simply the most legendary southern group ever, and even if people always credit N.W.A for their legacy, you can put the TX trio on the same level. Willie D, Bushwick Bill and Scarface deserve as much credit as the Eazy and 'em for what they brought to the game.
If you think I'm doing too much, you probably don't know as much as you think about them or rap history. Geto Boys is with no contest the most legendary Houston formation ever, and here is a tribute in the form of one hour mix compiling album cuts, feats, and more for you enjoy!
