With a career that started twenty years ago, over which he’s been on three of the biggest labels NOLA's ever birthed, he is definitely an important piece of that history.
Mystikal started with the humble indie imprint Big Boy Records, then through Jive went on to No Limit Records to a decade and many adventures later ending up on Cash Money.
This alone tells you what he’s seen career-wise, and as if it wasn’t enough, his personal story is just as crazy. From being a first Gulf war vet to his sister being murdered when he was recording his first album to success, prison and so on...
If he isn't the rap superstar he once was to the masses, and hasn't released an album since 2001, he is nonetheless one of the biggest solo acts to ever come out of New Orleans. You can't talk Louisiana hip-hop without mentioning Mystikal. A true NOLA legend!
And to pay hommage to this great MC, here is the first part of what will probably be a trilogy dedicated to the man. With this first compilation being a focus on his early days with gems from his first opus, the only one he released on Big Boy, some 90’s featurings and even a little more.
