Before being considered one of the greatest labels to ever come out of the south, No Limit was a business (record shop that became a label) that was started out of Richmond in California.
Percy Miller a.k.a Master P, with his brothers, stayed there from 1990 to 1995 to build the foundations for his brand and had the time to release a lot of music.
Master P made himself the main attraction on his label, but behind him, he already had his bros Silkk and C, some talented Bay cats like E-A-Ski or Lil Ric who both had great debuts on the label, and his first wife, Sonya C, who released her only album on the label. He also produced the West Coast Bad Boyz compilation which would become one of his first successes.
Not to mislead anyone that don’t know the history, though, some of the songs here, mainly those from the Tru's True album, are actually from the time when P relocated his business to New Orleans with Beats by the Pound already behind the boards, but it was a transition period and was easier to include these songs here.
They are so much more NL stuff to come, I wanted to take some off the load off.
So take a listen to this as a quick introduction and stay tune for a good series of No Limit related compilations coming soon...
