B.G and Wayne were with the label from early on, but before they formed the Hot Boys with Juvenile and Turk to become the flagship group of the label and the set of artists that would propel Cash Money Records to stardom, it was the guys from U.N.L.V who were the biggest stars on the Cash Money.
Composed of Tec-9, Lil Ya and the now deceased Yella Boy, U.N.L.V had the time to release 3 albums as a group on Cash Money, as well as two solo albums for Tec-9 before « leaving » in 1998 when the label signed its deal with Universal.
And as Mannie Fresh would state years later, with their biggest hit, a Mystikal (who was then signed to Big Boy Records) diss helped Juvenile’s decision to sign with the label.
So here is a compilation going over some of the best U.N.LV tracks from their Cash Money days with a few tracks from Lil Ya first and best solo album, who came out just right after the group bounced from CMR.
